Anima–September Rescue (SPP1925-Stefan)!

SPP1925-Stefan (M), around three years old, now under our Special Protection Program, was rescued by Anima on 4th September 2017, after a call from Ms. Hoi reporting that a dog was hit by a car in a site.
SPP1925-Stefan was sent to a clinic for consultation and subject to an x-ray.
The report showed that he is paralysed as his spine was broken.
According to the vet, there is not much chance that he can walk again even if he has a surgery.
Anima has not capacity to handle this situation in its shelter as Anima has around 400 dogs and 300 cats in its shelters and has only 21 handlers and no space at all for him!
We can’t provide a suitable environment for him in our overcrowded shelter and he is in pain unless under sedation.
We have asked other animal welfare associations if they have capacity to handle this case, but they don’t have.
We will not give back the dog to anyone who insists to put him back in the previous site, which will be definitely a nightmare for a dog that can’t walk.
In our opinion moving him to such environment is a cruelty!
To take care of a paralysed dog, you need at least to give him massage often, help him pee and poo three times per day and you must keep him in a place where no aggression may happen!
A crowded shelter is not the best place for him!
Stefan is staying in a clinic under observation now and will stay up to the end of this week and all bills will be paid by Anima.
Next Monday he will have a second vet opinion in another clinic! This is the maximum we can do for him!
