Anima-The Opening of Anima Cat’s Paradise!

<18-11-2016> Anima Cat’s Paradise Opening Ceremony will be on 26 November 2016 at 4pm! You are cordially invited to attend and bring a friend with you! As the number of abandoned animals has increased strongly, Anima decided to have an area totally dedicated to our cats, concentrating all our dogs in our Shelter in Altinho de Ka-Ho, and as so increasing the quality of life of both types of animals. The new Anima cat’s shelter, called Anima Cat’s Paradise, is located at the entrance of Coloane Village, immediately after the Police Academy Field. Fundraising for Homeless Animals – Welfare Dinner!

The 2016 Fundraising for Homeless Animals Campaign – Ludwig’s Fund,  has ended with a welfare dinner held by Anima's Committee for the Special Protection Programme (SPP) on Friday 20th May 2016, at 7:30 pm in a restaurant in Taipa. The lucky draw of the 10 most expensive prizes happened during the dinner, as well as the auction of valuable offers for this 9th Fundraising for Homeless Animals event, coordinated by Gina Rangel, Anima Board member and founder. All money raised in this campaign will go toward Ludwig’s Fund for helping homeless animals. Rolling Puppet Theatre (Face Painting Tour at Anima)!

Today, 65 people visited us, 16 of them joined the Face Painting Tour which was holding by Rolling Puppet Theatre! Thanks for your strong support! Education is the key issue for changing the cruelty environment against animals. Pets are for life! More and more visitors come to Anima! In 2015, we had 5,768 visitors an increase of 4.7% as compared with 5,511 in 2014! This year, up to April 2016, Anima received 2,598 visitors, an increase of 10.51% as compared with the same period of last year! The number of groups visiting us increased to 22 groups! 12 years of Anniversary commemorated with work!

Anima was officially created in 2003, December 11 by a group of 11 founder members. The initiative came from Albano Martins, the actual President of Anima, after being alerted in the beginning of 2003 by Fátima Galvão, that there was no law in Macau for the protection of animals. Following her suggestion the first name of the Association became Anima. Regina Pais, that unfortunately has left us few years ago, has joined the team and was part of the trio that began to give life to the charter of Anima. The job was afterwards transferred to professional lawyers. Before Anima was set up there was not any animal protection organization in Macau. Today there are five more, but only two with shelters and three active! Before Anima some activists for the rights of the animals had tried to establish this kind of organization 15 years ago but their mistake was to try...

Anima – July Press Conference Regarding Greyhounds!

Anima organized a press conference at 4:00 pm about the International Roundtable on Greyhounds to be held in Macau on 23rd July. We have invited ten organizations, like GREY2K USA Worldwide, RSPCA (UK), RSPCA (HK), Animals Australia, SPCA (Australia), Animals Asia (from Hong Kong) Animals Asia Foundation-China Cats and Dogs Welfare (from Guangzhou) , Capital Animal Welfare Association from Beijing (China), SPCA (Taiwan) and Kirsten from Hong Kong! Our petition to our Chief Executive for closing the Canidrome exceeded today at 15:30 the amount of 143,000 supporters, of which 145 were international organizations, 65 belonging to China (mainland). In Macau we got the support of Mawa, Masdaw and P.H.D. The other animal welfare organizations (two missing) didn’t answer our letters, emails or even phones and sms! This year up to the end of June we estimated the Canidrome has killed between 160 to 170 young animals! Please help us to stop...

Anima in “Phantom of Venice” Event In Venetian

F.I.T. students with the support of Venetian professionals have organized an event in Venetian, as the culmination of a training course where students have learned to organize a fully event including the beautiful dinner we have enjoyed. At the end of the event 10,000 patacas were raised and donated to Anima.
