Oreo, Toffee, Chocolate and Popcorn Need New Families!

The owner of Oreo, Toffee, Chocolate and Popcorn has seven  dogs and he wants to give us four of them. All dogs were supposed to be given to adopters when they were puppies, but the owner’s mother was not willing to give them away at that time. We totally disagree with such decision but we want the best for those dogs. For us this is an abandonment! Oreo is a 1.5-year-old female Border Collie, vaccinated and not spayed yet. Toffee, Chocolate and Popcorn are 9 months old Shiba Inu, a non-spayed female and two neutered males, all vaccinated. Please help us to help them! Please Adopt, Never buy! Never Abandon your pets! Anima – January Adoption (1570-Mokka)!

1570-Mokka was born with 1566-Cappu, 1567-Latte, 1568-Bica, 1569-Macchi and 1571-Presso by 1548-Katie on 28th October 2015. Katie was pregnant and rescued by Anima on 14th October 2015, after a call from Ms. Lo reporting that Katie was living in a construction site that will begin to be redeveloped. Anima – January Rescue (C1102 to C1106)!

The mother, C1102-Kanta with four kittens, C1103-Karin, C1104-Kasin, C1105-Karsen and C1106-Kapuni were rescued by Anima after a call from Mrs. Yao reporting that Kanta and her kittens lived in a warehouse on Rua Cinco de Outubro. According to Mrs. Yao, the warehouse will be closed until March and she will have no access to give food to the cats as she always did. Kanta is around two years old, and the kittens are around two months old, three males and one female. They are staying with us now. Thanks Mrs. Yao! Never Abandon your pets! Anima – January Adoption (C956-Meijo)!

C956-Meijo was rescued by Anima on 27th May 2015 after a call from Mr. Ieong reporting that three kittens with their mother were found in his place at Estrada do Cemiterio. Her history was a very sad history as few days after the rescue she had a severe infection in the eyes. We did the best, we took Meijo to a specialist but the eye never recovered! 1620-Ibbie was rescued by Anima on 6th January after a call from Ms. Chan reporting that Ibbie was pregnant and living in a construction site in Coloane. Anima – January Return to Family (1519-Gugi)!

1519-Gugi, a licensed animal, was temporarily accommodated in Anima for four months since 13th September 2015. The owner, Mr. Lam paid over MOP 40,000 for all the expenses for exporting him to UK,  including our little accommodation fee. Please understand that if you go back home you must begin to take care of the travel of your animal four months before you leave! Today, Gugi was picked up by a specialized export agency and delivered to Hong Kong for a flight to the United Kingdom reuniting the family. Good luck my friend! Never Abandon your pet! Anima – Statistics about Cats and Dogs (2014-2015)!

Anima has rescued in the last two years (2014-2015), 776 animals, around 33 per month or one per day! Of those, 324 were de-sexed and the remaining was only waiting a recovery and the appropriate age. In the same period 350 animals were adopted. The huge death of animals is explained by the poor condition of them when arrived, or because they were already collected dead or by some diseases that sometimes happen in crowded shelters, even if we try our best to have a proper quarantine and hygiene. That is one of the reasons why Anima considers adoption a master issue! Anima adopts the policy of No-Kill and No-Cage, policies that limit our capacity to increase the number of rescues or oblige us to be more selective in our rescue operations! Anima – January Rescue (C1101-Artemis)!

C1101-Artemis was rescued by Anima after a call from Ms. Lei regarding that a cat was found on the street near Teatro de Pedro V. According to Ms. Lei, Artemis was very weak, hardly breathing and was not moving. As it was an emergency situation, we asked Ms. Lei to take Artemis to a clinic nearby first as it would take us a long time to arrive there. Artemis was delivered to the clinic and she had to stay in the clinic for observation as she was very weak. Artemis passed out for a while when brought in, with low temperature and low blood sugar.
